Enrolling at Istituto Secoli and becoming part of our “MAKING FASHION” world is a straightforward process. Before doing so, make sure you check our admission requirements. Our training program is very wide-ranging and highly-distinguished, and there are specific skills and entry requirements for different courses, which must be substantiated by the level of education achieved by the candidate and/or his or her work experience.
The admission requirements for our courses are the following:
In order to access our training program a Diploma in secondary school education is required. A high school diploma is a certificate obtained upon completing secondary school education (in Italy, high school consists of 5 years of study, for international students the duration of a mandatory training course is 12 or 13 years). It provides a final mark, which is essential to apply for universities or professional institutes.
In addition to a high school diploma, for specific courses (such as intensive yearly academic courses), upon entry, Istituto Secoli requires specific technical skills in relation to the subjects taught during the course.
The following are the basic requirements needed in order to apply for Istituto Secoli’s Master's course: a three-year diploma in Fashion Design and a personal fashion portfolio (a graphic collection of the candidate's best fashion projects) which illustrates a small set of his or her key skills in fashion (for instance, the ability to design a capsule collection).
As for our specialised courses, (dedicated to professionals and young tailors) the qualification can be replaced with a professional qualification or specific professional skills.
Other courses require no prerequists, such as our introductory courses, which are aimed primarily at undergraduates and new graduates who want to enter the world of fashion. In this case, the only entry requirement is being at least 17 years of age.
Courses are held in Italian and Istituto Secoli can offer you an English translation service for some of them (this is an additional service you can request upon registering). In order to enroll on our training program, international students must have, at the very least, a CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) B1 level for both languages, Italian and English. As proof of the required level of knowledge in both languages, during individual meetings (which you can book here) or at a separate time, the candidate must provide the School with a relevant language certificate, issued by an authorized institution, or have a language interview.
Knowledge of Italian is a paramount entry requirement in order to enroll on Istituto Secoli's courses, as
well as to apply to, upon receiving a diploma from Istituto Secoli, work placements in our partner fashion companies.
As for CEFR, B1 represents an INTERMEDIATE language level, which certifies that the student is skilled in the following:

An initial interview is a fundamental element of the enrollment process on one of our courses, during which the candidate is given the opportunity to meet an Istituto Secoli advisor and gather information about the particular training program, receiving, at the same time, useful advice based on personal skills. During the meeting the advisor will also evaluate the correlation between the candidate’s goals, entry requirements, aspirations, motivations and their CV. This interview is also an opportunity to test international students' language level.
You can book an initial interview in one of the following ways:
