Istituto Secoli - School of Fashion in Novara - Italy

WHY ISTITUTO SECOLI NOVARA WAS BORN

The city of Novara and the surrounding area host one of the most important fashion districts in Italy, globally a one-of-a-kind environment where some of the leading fashion houses have their operational head offices and design their collections.

The "prototypist" results as one of the most sought-after professional roles by fashion companies in Italy and especially in the Novara area.

From here and in full harmony and coherence with its mission, Istituto Secoli along with partner brands, opens in Novara a school of excellence dedicated to the training of prototypists, with the aim of cultivating the fundamental knowledge of that "know-how" which has always contributed to define the exclusivity of the Made in Italy.

SCHOOL AND COMPANY, TOGETHER

A "tailor-made and located" training, for and with partner companies, where the Secoli Method interprets the professional needs of company prototypes and realizes them in a training course that faithfully recreates the working environment and promotes the growth of a shared professional culture, integrating the methodologies and experience in the education of Istituto Secoli team with the professional skills of the prototypist coming from the companies. The path ends by opening the doors of the prototypes of the companies themselves to the participants by activating an internship. The school, therefore, becomes a "Talent Garden" designed to attract, select, and train new fashion makers who are preparing to enter the "Factory Academy" to complete the training, learn the specifics of the product and brand process and start a path of professional growth.

FASHION PROTOTYPING

"Fashion Prototyping" is a highly specialized course directed to high school and university graduates. Prototyping is an essential phase in the development process of a fashion collection that contains those attributes of research, originality, quality, unique fit and identifying of the made in Italy. On the one hand it concludes and perfects the product development process, on the other it prepares the workability of the collection for mass production: the prototypist has sartorial knowledge and can tailor a complete garment with the highest manufacturing quality and can interact with the designer and the patternmaker in the process of defect correction and industrialization of the collection. Consequently, the training course starts from the study of the pattern, raw materials and fabrics, then focuses on the practice of techniques and methods of cutting, ironing, industrial and tailoring, moulage and defect correction of the garment and addresses the criteria and the methodologies for product industrialization and quality control. Learning takes place in a dynamic group work context aimed at stimulating collaboration, responsibility, autonomy and cooperation between the participants.

TUITION AFFORDABLE FOR EVERYONE

Supporting the project, a set of policies will be activated with the aim of economically facilitating the students to make the course accessible to everyone: the tuition fee is proportional to the university ISEE with wide contribution brackets in favor of lower ISEEs, scholarships on merit and for the territory are provided, studied together with the school's brand partners. Furthermore, it is possible to fully finance the course through Banca Intesa Sanpaolo "Per Merito".
