IN CONVERSATION WITH UMBERTO GRELLA
On March 12 Istituto Secoli will remember Luciano Grella -former Secoli student, tailor, stylist, creative, former National President of Confartigianato Moda, appointed Knight in the Order of Merit of the Republic by President Sergio Mattarella- during the presentation of the book “You Made the World More Beautiful. Now you will have to redo the wardrobe of the angels,” a biography dedicated to him.
A novel written by his son Umberto, in memory of his father, who passed away last August 2, which recounts his life from his debut in the Veronese countryside to his arrival in Brianza, from his formative period at the Secoli and Marangoni Institutes to the start of his atelier and international success.
An opportunity for all fashion enthusiasts as well as young emerging designers to get to know more closely the eclectic figure of a “master of fashion and elegance”-as Grella is remembered-who dressed actresses, princesses, Miss Italy, top managers as well as many ordinary women, interpreting and enriching their personalities with a touch of elegance out of the ordinary.
A fine psychologist -he knew how to interpret the demands of customers and make garments of high craft tailoring technique, including the use of special and unusual materials- in his role as National President of Confartigianato Moda he promoted many artisan consortiums that brought Italian fashion of excellence abroad, an example of a creative craftsman who with commitment and dedication put his natural talent to good use, offering opportunities to those fortunate enough to meet him.
At the end of the novel presentation to be screened also a docufilm-interview on his life made in 2023 by his daughter Diletta Grella, journalist and video maker.
The event will host prominent personalities from the fashion context, Secoli alumni, as well as friends and acquaintances of the Grella Family.
