From September 18th to October 3rd, 2025, Istituto Secoli will be showing the exhibition "Surreal Identities. Lucia Giacani Fashion Photographs from 2007 to 2025"
On the occasion of its 90th anniversary, Istituto Secoli celebrates the talent of Designers to Watch: this is the beginning of a collaboration with photographer Lucia Giacani, one of the most original voices in contemporary fashion photography. Designer to Watch, started 2018, is the project that highlights Istituto Secoli's most talented graduates, who have the opportunity to present their creations on the most prestigious runways in the fashion world. For the exhibition, seven emerging talents were carefully selected: Anna Bettoli (Perseverance, Expression of Potential), Andrea Edna Gobbi (The Sound of Memories), Ilaria Nolli (Vacuum), Ilaria Pansera (Like Indelible Signs), Elena Rasia (Outerdot), Claudia Romeo (Fotopsìa), and Vittorio Visentin (Caligo). Their collections, expressions of creativity and innovation, span the feminine and masculine worlds. The Institute has chosen to entrust the work of its talented artists to the visionary and refined gaze of Lucia Giacani – to recount, through images, not only the school's educational excellence, but also Italy's history of dress. Thus was born "Surreal Identities. Lucia Giacani Fashion Photographs from 2007 to 2025," an exhibition open to the public and curated by art historian Angela Madesani, professor of History and Critical studies of Contemporary Fashion at Istituto Secoli – which unfolds throughout the Institute's spaces in a visual dialogue between past, present, and future. The exhibition has a dual soul: on the one hand, previously unpublished images created by Giacani that showcase the most representative garments of Secoli's talents; on the other, a selection of historical photographs from the photographer's archive, published over the years by the most important international fashion magazines. Along with the photographic works, creations by young designers will be exhibited: a project that celebrates emerging creativity and pays homage to a protagonist of the Italian visual imagination.
We look forward to seeing you at Secoli's Milan headquarters - Viale Vittorio Veneto, 18/A - Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
