Thanks to the precious support of Gianluca Bauzano, authoritative writer of "Il Corriere della Sera" newspaper and well-known expert on costume, fashion, music and entertainment, our third year students had the opportunity to experience a two-day "inspirational workshop", in anticipation of their thesis work.
The place where the creative experience took place, giving free rein to new ideas, is one of a kind: The Scala Ansaldo Workshops, an imposing structure of 20,000 square metres, divided into three pavilions, with the capacity of hosting artisanal stage sets, scenography, sculpture, thermoforming, carpentry, mechanical workshops, scene assembly, tailoring, costume making, and a laundry!
A space where more than 60,000 costumes are kept; a heritage that exists thanks to the daily work of over 150 workers, including carpenters, blacksmiths, set designers, set design technicians, sculptors, seamstresses and costume designers, who create the entire stage setup from a simple sketch.
